I have a 1940 Pontiac 4dr (body style 40-2519) with a badly bend up front end frame (117"w/b)....I've located a 1940 Oldsmobile frame 4dr also with a 117" w/b....will the Pontiac body sit on the Oldsmobile frame? weren't the frames all GM...same same in those years. |

I'm going to have to check the Hollander Interchange Manuals for you.
However, I'm confused a bit. I also have A '40-2519 and it is the smallest body Pontiac for 1940- the Chevy body.
I have always been told that the 26 and 28 models were the Buick and Oldsmobile bodies... thus bigger. If you check in our On-Line Reference Manual section in the 1940 Shop Manual, under Frame, you will see that the frames between the 25 and the 26/28 are quite different.
However, there was the smallest Olds in 1940 called the Series 60. It was closely related to the Chevy and Pontiac (25). But the only info I find on the Series 60 Olds states that the wheelbase was 116".
I would be very iffy on the Olds frame based on the wheelbase and also things like suspension, engine mounting, the front radiator shell assembly, etc. How much of your front frame is messed up. I have a friend who just chopped the front frame off his 26-model for an updated suspension. Perhaps the portion you need is the same between the 25 and 26. I could certainly compare it to mine which is still stock. He also has a pretty rusty complete 26-model frame that might be able to donate a front portion if the same.
Also, there is someone on ebay selling a "rolling" '40 25-model for something like $450.00. You might want to check it out. If you can't find it still listed, I think it might be these people in Minnesota: http://rpmclassicparts.com/ _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

Just checked the Hollander Interchange Manual and the 1940 2519 frame is unique to itself... not interchangeable with any other car. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |
