This is my second LeMans Sport. I had a two door in the eighties. This will be more of a challenge with it being a four door.
Does anyone know of a website where I can find what parts interchange with other GM "A" bodies?
One of the interesting things is that the front seat is a split seat with a drop down arm rest. I thought that four door cars all had solid front bench seats. Also unlike my last Last LeMans Sport this one has Disc Brakes up front.
I've ordered new lenses for the speedo and idiot lights along with one for the clock. Can anyone help on how to access them?
Thanks

Congratulations on the cool Lemans. The 4-door hardtop only saw 3,657 go out the door in 1970. Four-door hardtops have always been sharp cars, though everyone wanted a two-door. With most every car today being made as a four-door, these earlier cars are growing in popularity.
What parts are you looking for to interchange with other A-bodies? Other than things like rubber products, I'm afraid Pontiac (as the others) pretty much stand alone.
As for the gauge and light lenses, I'm thinking (if like most other cars from the '70s) you're going to have some serious dash board dismantling. Lets hope to that the individual gauges, etc. aren't cemented together, and can be taken apart. Who is selling these individual pieces? A little polishing might have fixed them too. Clear plastic is pretty fixable that way.
Keep us posted on your nice Pontiac. How about some photos and a story so we can feature it in our On-Line Magazine "Cover" Car Feature? _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

I was hoping some suspension parts might fit as I have a friend who works for a company that sells Chevelle parts.
Since I live in Southern California I will need to get over to the Pomona Swap Meet where I should be able to find a shop manual.
The guy who I bought it from sprayed the dash black and the overspray got on the lenses. I don't know what he used to try and clean the paint off the lenses but it looks like it melted the lenses.
I will get a few pictures taken this week and send them to you. Thank you.
Regards

There may be some suspension parts here and there that are the same. Perhaps things like ball joints, etc. However, we have a good number of suppliers who give our members discounts that can help.
The fellow probably used thinner of some sort on the lenses... a real no-no. The plastic probably melted like you suspect. If just fogged up, compound could work, but it would be a long tedious process. same thing happed on my '69 Lemans wagon long ago from a sloppy painter. I had to "gently" use a mild solvent, but it fogged them up. One day I will finally get back to work on it and probably put in new modern gauges.
I hear that CA swap meet is huge. Should find some goodies there for sure.
Since you're in SCal be sure to check with Frank's Pontiac Parts (see ad to the left). Frank has tons of good Pontiacs and parts, and very fair prices. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

I have a 1970 LeMans sport, but my bench wasn't split. I traded it for some wheels and tires because I want to put some buckets in.
My great aunt bought it new, and my grandma got it when she died and it came to me when I was old enough to drive. Over a decade later, I've run it down and been ignorant about maintaining it. I'm trying to build it up into a fun cruiser, but I'm uneducated about mechanics. I've been doing research, lurking these boards.
Couldn't resist sharing the '70 LeMans Sport four-door love |

Today, as many younger people don't even know anything other than 4-door cars, they are growing in popularity. However, the 4-door hardtops have always been classy looking cars.
Ask any questions you may have and we'll get you help and/or answers. Looks like a nice solid car to start with.
