I spent my super bowl Sunday driving 6 hours to trade my 59 Edsel for a solid 55 Star Chief.
Got it to the shop and realized quite a few interesting things about it.
1. It still has what I believe to be mostly original paint, most of which does not look terrible. Nice patina look.
2. The tires on it are Goodyear Suburbanites, long discontinued winter tires which I assume are almost as old as the car. Two of which still hold air.
3. The interior is fantastic save for a missing carpet and a small rip on the driver seat.
At first I thought it had been restored at one point, just because of how nice everything is on the car, but the tires being as old as they are and the majority of the paint as seemingly original as it is, I'm starting to think it might just be a great example of a survivor. Thoughts? Well maybe not the greatest survivor, as someone decided to swap out the original V8 for a Chevy 350 small block at some point. Other than that though its a nearly perfect car.
Aside from that, I have a couple of questions, where can I get my VIN and trim tag decoded? Also, what size tires would be recommended?
VIN: C755H25940
Body Tag:
Style: 55-2519
Body No: BC3727
Trim No: 251
Paint No: 88
Top: ACC (I think, it was a little hard to read)
I was going to attach photos but am having difficulties, if I figure it out Ill add some in the replies. _________________ |
