Stamped block 89Z standard plain 195 sm trans
Engine has high comp pistons, dbbl spring valves, special cam and lifters, auto trans
Chart in manual indicates special order 76Y.
Can anyone please provide a explanation?

| Most likely it was rebuilt at some point. My 77Y was at .040 when I took it in to have it rebuilt. It's now 60 over.

Thanks, not trying to sound rude but do you think someone would replace these 4 major components. Special pistons, cylinder head, cam, and lifters to rebuild one of these engines?
Because the 76Y is a special order, as per manual, could this have been done at the plant with a 89Z block?
My firewall data tag also has a wrench head stamped in it. ???

Yes very common for these engines to be rebuilt and upgraded for more power.
These engines took a beating in the 60's and 70's. As I mentioned, my engine was at .040 which means it was probably rebuilt with .030 pistons first before going slightly larger.
Not sure why the trim tag had that stamping.
