Hi,
I am doing full service on my brakes on my 64 Bonneville. Changing the wheel cylinders, brakepads etc. Today I found out that I need new backing plate gaskets, but I can't find them on ebay, rock auto or ames.
Any ideas?? |

I can't remember ever seeing any of these when working on old cars. But, I suspect they were there and just never noticed.
I will tell what I would do. First, making such a simple gasket would be easy. I have a punch set, but even with an Exacto knife it shouldn't be too difficult. Second, knowing that just holding back any grease leakage is the goal here... out would come the tube of silicone sealant. A thin coat would do the job just fine. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

You're absolutely right, Larry
I've been to my local classic car dealer and he said that according to GM's big book there is not supposed to be a gasket there.
It was an old gasket on my car, so i think I'm going to put av new one on. Or at least a seal of any kind. |
