Does anyone know where to get new bushings for my trans linkage ? Mine are almost all missing and it is so sloppy. Its as though you have to force it in gear now. I know i have a bad throwout bearing that need replacing but would that contribute to hard shifting ?
Thanks, _________________ RED

Yes, your culprit is probaby the throwout bearing, not your linkgage.
Get your clutch components working, then evaluate your shifting. |

I hate to even think of pulling that trans in the winter but oh well i guess thats what has to happen. Thanks for the input !! I can get the Throwout Bearing for about $30.00 plus shipping. I know the clutch plate and assembly is good so i guess thats good. I dont mess with transmissions so this ones going to the shop. Its good to have friends in the business.
Thanks,

Last time, I just let a good transmission shop replace my clutch disc, pressure plate and throwout bearing, plus resurface the flywheel. Took 1 day, no muss or fuss, plus the guys in the shop really enjoyed working on a "real" car.
When I stopped at the shop to ask if they could work on my 1963 Gand Prix, one of the questions I had was one of the general ability to do work on the older cars. The boss took me in the backroom and showed me his 49 Ford Kustom with a flathead mated to a 6 speed OD transmission. I knew at that point I had found a worthy shop. Too bad I moved away from that city. |
