On the 63 Grand Prix the filler neck slides into the tank, is there a o-ring or silicone I should use to reinstall to prevent leaking?
When I took it apart I did not see anything to keep it from leaking except a tight fix. _________________ 64 years old, retired, but I still can't do what I want to, still married! Enough said!! |

The 1963 Service Manual states: "...the fuel tank filler pipe is a separate piece and incorporates a rubber O-ring seal to provide a gasoline tight joint at the tank."
The illustration is too small to see any details, but I would assume there is some sort of a detent at the bottom of the pipe for an O-ring to set in.
I would assume that most O-rings (black) would work, but then again... with the new fuels, perhaps you should check that you get a proper fuel O-ring.
NEVER!!!! use silicone sealant with a fuel system! _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |
