hello,
I am swapping my 301T for a 455ci (1972). Here is my question:
- will the a/c bracket from the 301T will adapt to the 455ci ?
- If not, will a 455ci a/c bracket will be able to receive the 1981 a/c compressor
Thanks for your time and efforts,
Dan |

I sort of doubt that there is any information about the interchangeability of these parts around other than firsthand knowledge of someone who has done the exact same swap.
I can say one thing, however, that the brackets, spacers, washers, etc. that Pontiac used over the years for all of their front end engine mounting is a total bumble you-know-what. I have never seen such a nightmare of junk that was pretty much different between every engine, and every different assortment of accessories mounted.
If I had to bet, knowing nothing more than the above, I would bet no on any direct interchange of these parts. That being said however, it is probably one of the smallest items you will have to address in this transplant. Anything is adaptable, especially with a little modification.
My advice is to pick the best compressor you have, and the one you want to keep and find the bracket and required spacers, etc. to make it work. I know some of those "brackets" are pretty complicated items, but they have to be very close to the same, one to the other.
Do you have the two engines and all the brackets side-by-side so you can do some comparing? _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |
