|

I found a guy who is willing to trade his 69 GTO endura bumper w/hideaway headlights for my 69 GTO endura bumper w/o hideaways. First of all, will his bumper fit onto my 69 that didn't come with hideaways and how much should I expect to pay on top of the exchange?
Thanks,
Mike |

I had a '69 Endura assembly that I was going to put on my Lemans long ago. In checking it out, the use of the mounting brackets to the frame made it an easy swap with the chrome bumper.
I do not remember anything about it that would have made me think that the one without the hideaways would have been different. And I can't imagine why they would have made the two versions different from each other in the mounting. Obviously the body fit was the same. Perhaps someone knows more.
Money difference? That's one of those "What's it worth to you?" questions. Certainly the condition is the main factor. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

I did some further checking in the 1969 Service Manual. They illustrate the removal of the GTO bumper assy. and make no distinction between those with exposed vs. those with hide-away headlights. All appear the same, mounting-wise.
If you get the new setup, I have some spare frame mounting brackets and bucket parts if needed. Ex-wife threw away a perfect, complete '69 Endura setup! She missed these parts. That's one of the may reasons she's an "ex!" _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

Ive got a few of those "ex" stories as well! How good is that 69 GTO service manual, is it legible? I guess the best thing to do is to just put them side by side and compare them
Thanks again! |

The manual will be scanned and added to our On-Line Reference Manual Library one day soon. Drop me any questions you might have and I'll reference and help you if I can.
as for the illustration of the bumper assembly, it shows the hide-away unit. But it isn't anything you could do a good comparison with.
Speaking of ex's.... mine also scrapped an NOS 1954 Pontiac rear bumper, a complete '54 straight engine with Hydra-Matic that I was saving- it can out of a 20-something mile car I had parted out, and a 1966 tri-power setup- complete and working. Aren't they wonderful?!?
I seriously think you will find both bumper units will bolt right up to the Endure frame arms. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

Ok Larry, you will probably be able to help me with this one too! I am going to trade for this Endura bumper with hideaway headlights tomorrow and wanted to make sure that I get all the components that are suppose to come with the unit in order for it to be complete and functionable. Is there a parts list/illustrated breakdown of everything that should come with it?
Thanks,
Mike |

Hi Mike,
Boy am I glad I caught your request; hopefully in time to be a help.
Check below a scan from the 1969 Service Manual of the entire Endura assembly.
I have also attached a mush larger pdf here that you can download and print out. I'm sorry i don't have the parts manual listing of each item, but this at least shows everything.
Keep us posted on the swap.
