We've had two BIG back to back weekends in Pigeon Forge, TN. We went to the Shades of the Past show and the following weekend we went to the Rod Run. If you have never been, IT IS A MUST!!!!! Thousands and thousands of cars (most for sale) and people. We bought a '69 GTO and '67 GTO during Shades of the Past and an '86 and '87 Grand National during the Rod Run. The '87 only has 26,000 original miles and the car is mint.
Both of the GTO's are amazing!!!! The '67 is one of the best done cars I've ever seen restored. _________________ LILHOTROD96

You two are gonna have to learn to leave the checkbook at home when you go to the car shows!
Great cars! I just told my wife's oncologist (who is restoring a '66 Maserati now and wanting a "muscle car" next) that I would go with a '67 or '69 GTO. Looks like I got good taste too. Let me know if either go up for sale. Don't know if he is ready to pull the trigger yet, but I was going to contact you to keep a look-out for him. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |

We usually attend the Rod Run's in the spring and also in the fall. It's fun, but it's a zoo. We were there this year in the 86. We have not attended the Pontiacs in Pigeon Forge meet yet, but it is on the bucket list. The Pontiacs in PF always happens on my weekend to work, however I will have to make plans to get off from work in 2013. We live 45 miles from PF on the NC side of the park, so it is a quick ride over the mountain for us.

In your 86 Pontiac or GN? We always go to Shades of the Past and back for the Rod Run, Spring and Fall and we ALWAYS stay at the Music Road Hotel where Pontiacs in Pigeon for is held. GREAT hotel!!!!! If you have never been to Pontiacs in Pigeon Forge you will have a BLAST!!!!! So convenient the show being right there at the hotel and if you have kids to take, the pool is awesome!!! Maybe we will see you there for some of the shows! _________________ LILHOTROD96

Hi lilhotrod96,
Thanks for the welcome. The next time you all are in the PF area, let us know. We live 1.5 hours away and will try to meet you all over there.
I am looking forward to going to a Pontiacs In Pigeon Forge meet. Maybe 2013 will be our year. The main reason we have not been yet is that we are regulars at the F-Body Gathering which is always on Memorial Weekend. I have been involved in the classifications and judging and stay busy all weekend at that event.
It is difficult and costly to attend two shows back to back. My work schedule requires us to work every other weekend, and my work weekend always falls on the weekend of the Pontiacs in Pigeon Forge.
Do you stay at the Music Road Hotel on Rod Run weekends also?

If you have been to the fbody Gathering, I am SURE you know my husband, Robbie Lewis. He has the 2002 SOM Trans Am with all the CHROME!
Yes we ALWAYS stay at the Music Road Hotel. You can get an "Ovation" card at the front desk and get a discout. _________________ LILHOTROD96

We have been F-Body Gathering regulars since 2009. I served as a judge every year, and started helping Jim with classifications in 2011. I use the term helper, because I am a slow learner. Jim has lots of patience...
I am pretty sure I know your car, and I am almost positive that I have met Robbie. I probably know you on sight also.
I am the one who has the large white tent, with the TGO (Thirdgen.org) banner on it. My 86 is the bright blue/silver all stock car that always takes Class Winner for the 82-87 stock Firebird class. They park our car outside of the hall where the awards are held, during the awards ceremony. We are the ones with the candy apple red F-350 tow vehicle with the real 15 inch boat prop as a hitch cover. When they had the pirates theme a couple of years back we did the full boat thing complete with an anchor, ropes, bumpers, and off-course the pirate flags.
I am not sure if the car wins because it is that nice, or because there is not have much competition in the stock 82-87 class? Either way it is fun!
We are going to have to put the Pontiacs and Pigeon Forge on out too do lists.
