I agree 50's !! the only judging should be done by the owner. If you dont like what you see on my car you have eyes ... direct them somewhere else. I have never been a fan of judging and ill tell you why. A friend of mine has a 1973 Chevelle ( I hate Chevelles ) But it is a very nice Low Miles One owner car. He was working as a Cashier at Jewel for next to minimum wage and spent every spare moment working on this car. He spent thousands of dollars and god only knows how much time doing the work himself. Every chance he got he put this car in every show he could. While the car got a great reaction from the spectators the trophies never went his direction because he didnt have the money to pay a professional shop to do his work like the trophy winners did. He constantly was disappointed at his lack of Show prizes. Since then in order to prove a point to god knows who he has sunk about $10,000 into the car and it was 1st Place at Chevy VetteFest in Chicago's McCormack place Modified Division. Lesson : Do what you want to do just make sure the most important person is happy! Thats not the judge ... its You ! My 1950 Pontiac is not the prettiest car in the world nor will it ever be up for a Riddler award but if i can feel good about DRIVING this car up the road who should i appologize to ? Thats what these cars are for right ? Driving? While i can appreciate the beauty of a trailer Queen, I still fail to see their purpose. People are constantly telling me " But its a 4 door ! " What the hell does that have to do with anything. Do people forget that they also made Wagons and Sedan Deliveries and Tons of 4 doors cars ? Its worth less at Barrett Jackson ? SO WHAT ! the true question is is it worth a lot to me ! One day when our grandkids are going to car shows they will be looking at Thousands of GTO's but no tempests or LeMans, and every 1957 Chevy they could pull out of a junkpile but yet will never get the chance to see a 1957 Mercury Turnpike cruiser wagon will they? Only in books because cars that are seen as less valuable live only one fate ... Parts car. I feel we put far to much emphasis on Resale value and not enough on what or how the car makes you feel. I agree with John. Sometimes its better to keep your hood shut and your mouth shut. Let people appreciate your car for what it is and not what the judges think. The point i am constantly trying to make to people is to buy a car that is unique but can be adapted to your style and what would make you happy. IE: a 1970 Chevelle LS6 454 is not a rare car anymore the 1970 Malibu 4 dr 307 ci Is however. You get my point. Thanks for listening to me rant.

Just build your car, your way and have fun with it. Do not let anyone tell you you're doing it wrong, IT'S YOUR CAR.
