Again in 1969, the Fiero name as put on a Pontiac Concept car shown here. See post of the 1968 Fiero also. In the book "Pontiac Dream Cars, Show Cars & Prototypes: 1928-1998 Photo Album" by Jessie Thomas, the information below was shown:
"In 1969, the show car known as 'The Firebird of Tomorrow' and the 'Banshee II' was updated with white paint and a graphics treatment including a 'chicken' decal on the nose. It was then re-christened the Firebird Fiero.
The Banshee II/Firebird Fiero show car had an obvious racing influence with its flush wheel covers, deep-louvered hood, cut-down glass, brake-cooling vents, minimal ground clearance, and separate headrests for passenger and driver. A 400-cid H.O. V-8 was under the hood."
These Fieros of 1968 and 1969 were obviously the dream concepts of the Firebird line and not actually the Fiero that was to follow.
