What a great old Pontiac!
There was a long standing debate over the funky color green on the later flatheads, but I can't for the life of me remember what the earlier color was. I am thinking something in the gray family.
I would suggest contacting Kurt Kelsey (look under "AFFILIATES" then "Member Discounts"). Also, Bill Hirsch in New Jersey always advertises engine paints.
His web site (http://www.hirschauto.com) only shows an unlabeled can under engine paints. Perhaps he (or someone) mixes it as needed. Hirsch has always been a good source for the older cars; give him a call.
Please let us know what you find out so we can share with others. |

I did some further checking and it turns out that green is the proper color for even these early Pontiacs. As a matter of fact, it is a dark green, and Bill Hirsch does carry it.
This comes right from the AACA Chapter for early Pontiacs. http://www.oaklandpontiacworldwide.com. Be sure to check them out as another source for early Pontiac information. Our thanks to John Armstrong, their founder and one of their officers, for his help. |
