The Solstice YTD sales, down 17%. The Saturn Sky YTD up 46%. Why?
Saturn has better exterior and interior styling. |

I read a report somewhere on the internet about three weeks ago (can't remember where, there are so many) and they were saying that dealers were having a difficult time selling the Solstice and there was a back log of them in inventory. They went on the say that the Saturn dealers couldn't get Skys fast enough and there was a back order of production.
Now for the scary part.... they chalked it up to "brand preception"!
Simply put, customers do not look on Pontiac as a viable auto anymore. How can you blame them? Check out the offerings of Chevrolet, Saturn, GMC, Cadillac, and even Buick. I have been saying for a long time, "Get ready to be an "Orphan Car" Club." These people aren't stupid, they build cars to make money... hopefully tons of it.
Am I wrong? |

Personally, I prefer the Solstice to the Sky. I think it's a cleaner design. That's not to say that it couldn't be better though.
Pontiac needs to bring back the Firebird in a bad way. There just isn't anything to drool over anymore. I mean really, what kid is going to say, "I want a G8 when I grow up"? And the G5? Zzzzzzzzz.
I hope Pontiac can turn things around before they go the way of the Olds. |

Firebird/Trans Am would be neat, but with oil nearing $100+ a barrel, hell, bring back the Fiero with the V-6 and Getrag! Talk about the best of all worlds?! |

I'd go for that. I got back a couple of weeks ago from a 700 mile trip up the California coast and got 29.2 mpg out of my GT. Not bad. |

I thought the Solstice was a fantastic car--until I realized that there is no place to put your clubs. There is no place to put her overnight bag for a little weekend jaunt. If you and a friend leave a party to go for beer, either you have to go back for the beer, or for the friend.
That is a serious problem. |

When you have beer, who needs friends!
Or as Woody Woodberry said: "Booze is the answer"... bet you thought I'd forgotten that line!
Or as Steve Allen said: "All seriousness aside..." Really, Corvette people used to think they had storage problems, but at least there is some space for travel supplies. Golf clubs, I don't know.
Perhaps we are all missing a great opportunity to invent and patent the first collapsible golf clubs. |

With X-Over vehicles, Sport/Rec vehicles and SUVs doing so well, shouldn't someone from GM figured out that people want storage space?
I am all for the choice of a great sportscar. But, while the Design Team is drawing, make a little extra room for the golf clubs, hockey sticks, and a few groceries. |

Ahh yes! Woody Woodberry and the "BOOZE IS THE ONLY ANSWER CLUB". I have a membership card around here someplace.
Remember Rusty Warren? |

You'll have to fill me in on Rusty Warren.... I was Air Force. We frequented a higher class of dives than you Navy guys! Although you probably had more fun! |

She is from the same era as Woody Woodberry, but he lasted longer. One of her albums was titled "KNOCKERS UP". She was extremely funny in a double entant way. |
