Probably duh question. But here it goes. I am in the process of putting the carburetor back on after replacing a cracked manifold. The question is. The heat shield has differernt holes in it verses the bottom of the carburetor. Am I missing something ? If not then why does the heat shield have the differernt opening than the carburetor..
thanks, Terry.
I would show pictures of what I'm talking about. However, for some reason everytime I try to attach a photo it says uploaded empty file. The pictures are jpg and under the size limit.... |

Our first question is if you are referring to the bolt holes or the size of the large hole in the middle. If the bolt holes, it must not have been on the same car.
If you are referring to the large center "carb" hole, we are guessing that the heat shield hole is smaller than the carb bore. If so, that might restrict the air flow that this carb actually is designed to have. Since it is not a high performance car, it shouldn't make any difference if the hole restricts a bit, but it shouldn't restrict mush. We would guess the carb or heat shield were replaced at some time.
Don't know why the photo wouldn't post. I have posted one here just as a test. _________________ PontiacRegistry.com... building the single largest source of Pontiac information, services, and entertainment in the world! |
