Just taking in all the great information on this website. Great collection of all things Pontiac.
I will be reading, watching, learning, and sharing (when i can) with those of you that are interested.
My current project is a 48 Torpedo convertible. Fitted with a 64' 389 that will be reworked with a stroker kit and connected to a t56 from a 98 firebird.
Lets keep all the greatness going! |

Thanks for joining PontiacRegistry.com.
I am especially interested in your V8 conversion. I have just pulled the engine and transmission from my '40 Pontiac. It is all going to the United Arab Emerite for a '40 Woodie in need of a new heart.
It was a timely sale as I am shipping the car to a couple of our members in Missouri soon for a total make over. We have a T/A 400 drivetrain for it already.
They are not new into these sort of transplants, but are scratching their heads on how to attack the front suspension and steering. These old Pontiacs have spring perches and frame arrangement that makes converting quite involved. They are very good at fabricating and should be able to come up with something to utilize a Mustang II setup. We don't want to sub-frame it as that is too wide of a tread width for the car.
Are you going to do something with the front end too? Wondering what approach you are going to take there.
Thanks,

A reg. A-body front sub frame would be to wide as the wide track didn't come until 62, but if you do do a sub frame the nove or ventura sub frame will be almost the exact same width & you can find those pretty easy & cheap. That would be the best thing fro that as then you can use all the GM parts to make the front end respond to any upgrade down the the road very easy. If you can find an older Fox body Mustang you can cut the entire front end from that & you'll be way ahead of the game because all the Mustang part are a direct bolt on. _________________ I have a 73 GTO that I bought new, well it was a demo because the car I ordered was an SD car which never came in & i had to take what was left because I was in the Navy & had to talk to the dealer when I could. |
