Re: 1978 Safari Wagons - From my own experience, I pass this along to those of you who will or may at one time or another, change out your steering column in your 1978 Pontiac 'Safari' A-Body wagon.
If making a swap because yours is bad or being rebuilt, etc., you have to use the specific year of 1978 in your Safari. Any other year will not fit.
The good news is, that the following vehicles steering columns will work in the 1978 Safari wagon. However, once again, it has to be from a 1978, no other year.
Here are the makes that can be used as an easy bolt in and connectors set up:
1978: Malibu - Grand Prix - Century - Cutlass - Monte Carlo - Regal - or GMC Sprint.
I know this will help anyone that has to change out their column for some reason. Best of Pontiac to you all!
