My 1978 T/A.  Very similar to one I purchased new in 1977.  fairly base T/A.  Pontiac 400, Hurst T-Top.
My Black Special Edition '78 TA
This is a pic of one of two remaining BFG "Tirebirds". The other one is competing in the Vintage TransAm series. My yellow bird was stored in a barn from 1983 until 2004 when I bought it from it's 3rd owner.

Cruising in Southern Germany
Second owner of car, my uncle (original owner) got it off the show room floor at Cape GMC Pontiac when he graduated high school in 1980. Sold it to us in 1998, finished restoration in 2001.
Car is painted like the 70-72 year models. Has a mild 455 bored 30 over, stock 7K3 heads (400 heads) with comp roller rockers. Stock crank, rods, and pistons, has a comp magnum 280H cam (480 lift). Edelbrock 800 carb, with a Carter Super Street Electric fuel pump. Turbo 400 trans with a TCI breakaway converter. 373 Richmond gears with a factory 8.5 10 bolt posi rear. 3 inch exhaust, single chamber flows with cutouts and headers.
Best ET to date is 7.90 at 86mph (1/8th mile)
